Lions Stumble At Home To U Sciences, 60-52

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – Senior Alonzo Murphy (Pittsburgh, PA/California University (PA)) posted his first double-double of the season in a 60-52 loss to University of Sciences on Thursday, November 20th inside Manuel Rivero Hall.

The Lions nailed five three-pointers in the first half led by senior Tony Efese (Spring Valley, NY/St. Joseph Regional HS) and junior Chaz Sharp (Baltimore, MD/Xavier University of Louisiana). Both Efese and Sharp made a pair of three's each finishing with eight points in the half. Senior Daniel Pendleton (Philadephia, PA/MCSCS) made the other shot from long range and finished with five first half points. The U Sciences held a 22-14 rebounding advantage and led 29-27 at the half. Lincoln shot 38% (10-26) from the field compared to 41% (12-29) by U Sciences.

Seniors Alonzo Murphy (Pittsburgh, PA/California University (PA)) and Christopher Brand (Starkville, MS/Alcorn State University) sparked the Lions with great defense in the second half. Murphy led LU with eight points and seven rebounds while blocking an incredible six shots. Chaz Sharp (Baltimore, MD/Xavier University of Louisiana) was a force leading the bench with seven points, but the Lions committed nine costly turnovers that led to 13 points for the U Sciences offense. The Lions were outscored 31-25 in the second half and fell for the third time at home this season, 60-52.

Chaz Sharp (Baltimore, MD/Xavier University of Louisiana) posted a season-best 15 points off of the LU bench and had three assists. Alonzo Murphy (Pittsburgh, PA/California University (PA)) recorded his first double-double of the season finishing with 10 points, ten rebounds, two blocks, and two assists. Christopher Brand (Starkville, MS/Alcorn State University) blocked seven shots and scored six points while David Mofunanya (Englewood, NJ/Dwight Morrow HS) dished off a team-high five assists.

Lincoln falls to 1-3 and will host Goldey-Beacom College on Saturday, November 22nd at 4 p.m. in Manuel Rivero Hall.
