Box Score Lincoln University, PA – Briana McKellery (Odenton, MD/Arundel HS) led the Lions with seven kills and a solo block in a 3-0 (20-25, 18-25, 24-26) defeat to Cheyney University on Wednesday, October 23.

Cheyney forced the Lions into 10 errors in the first set despite only posting five kills. Lincoln had nine kills but with countless errors the Wolves took a 20-25 decision, even with a boisterous Lincoln crowd making noise for the home Lions.

In the second set, Lincoln could not get much going with six kills to Cheyney's 10, as the Wolves jumped on them to take a 2-0 advantage.

The third set saw some of the night's most exciting action, with their backs against the wall, Lincoln rallied from a five point deficit to tie the match at 22-22. The Lions went ahead on two consecutive errors by the Cheyney setter, but the Wolves were able to hold on for a 26-24 win.

Briana McKellery (Odenton, MD/Arundel HS) and Jillian Lee (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Poly Institute) both had seven kills to lead the Lions offensive attack against Cheyney. Cynthia Johnson (Randallstown, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) followed with six kills and Kyra Orton (Detroit, MI/Renaissance HS) added five kills. Shanna King (Newark, NJ/University High School) had 20 assists for the Lions with two aces.

Sydney Cook (Portland, OR/Cleveland HS) and Tarayja Brooks (Kennett Square, PA/Kennett HS) anchored the defense with 18 and 13 digs respectively while Cynthia Johnson (Randallstown, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) and Kyra Orton (Detroit, MI/Renaissance HS) both had seven digs each.
