SPARTANBURG, S.C. — The Lincoln University football team made its first trip to the Palmetto State, but the Lions couldn't slow down Football Championship Subdivision member Wofford College in an 82-0 defeat on Saturday night at Gibbs Stadium.
Doug Cook (Dania Beach, FL/University School of Nova SE University) paced the Lions (0-2) through the air by throwing for 130 yards on 15-of-25 passing.
Gerald Swain (Burlington Township, N.J./Burlington Township HS) led the ground game with 30 yards on 12 carries.
Philip Jean-Juste (Miami, Fla. /North Miami Beach HS) finished with eight receptions for 57 yards and Matt Coston added 52 yards on five catches.
Defensively,
Tim Green (Fanwood, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood HS),
Brion Robinson (Silver Spring, MD/Springbrook HS) and
Gavin Lampkin (Baltimore, Md./W.E.B. Dubois HS) each had six solo tackles.
The Terriers (2-0) did most of their damage in the opening quarter by racking up 192 yards in running out to a 35-0 lead
The air attack of Lincoln went to work in the second quarter as Cook was 12-of-16 for 104 yards. However, Lincoln, which finished with 179 total yards of offense, couldn't find the end zone as the Terriers took a 45-0 advantage into the half.
For the second consecutive game, Wofford finished with more than 400 yards rushing. The Terriers amassed 602 total yards, including 468 yards on the ground.
Lincoln returns home Saturday, Sept. 15 to take on Kentucky State University at Lincoln University Stadium. The Lions are looking to avenge a 43-27 defeat at KSU last season. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m., and the game can be viewed through live stats at:
