Box Score 2 WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Lincoln University volleyball team dropped a pair of matches Winston-Salem State and Johnson C. Smith to open the CIAA Round-up on Saturday at Winston-Salem State University.
In the opening match of the day, the Lady Lions dropped a 3-0 decision to Winston-Salem State with scores of 25-13, 25-9, 26-24.
Jillian Lee (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Poly Institute) led the way offensively with four kills, while
Erica McClain (Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett HS) added 10 assists.
Cynthia Johnson (Randallstown, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) finished with five digs, while
Sydney Cook (Portland, OR/Cleveland HS) and
Tarayja Brooks (Kennett Square, PA/Kennett HS) each had four.
In the second match, Lincoln (1-10 overall, 1-8 CIAA) dropped the opening set, 25-21, but rebounded with 25-18 victory in the second set. However, Johnson C. Smith took the final two games, 27-25 and 25-19, to get the victory.
Johnson and
Briana McKellery (Odenton, MD/Arundel HS) each recorded 13 kills to pace the Lady Lions offense, while Lee finished with 10 kills. McClain added 36 assists and 13 digs for the double-double. Cook and
Erika Bell (Owings Mills, Md./Baltimore Polytechnic Institute HS) had 17 and 16 digs, respectively.
The Lady Lions conclude play at the CIAA Round-up at 9 a.m., on Sunday, Sept. 30 against Livingstone College.
