Box Score JOHNSTOWN, Pa. — Tara O'Brien (Twickenham London, UK/St. Mark's Catholic School) recorded a hat trick, including scoring a pair of second-half goals, but it wasn't enough to lift the Lincoln University women's soccer team past Pitts.-Johnstown in a 5-3 loss on Thursday evening.
The Lady Cats (1-0) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first minute, but an O'Brien goal in the 13
th off a free kick tied the game at 1.
Pitts.-Johnstown took a 4-1 advantage into the half, but O'Brien tallied her second goal just two minutes into the second half on a penalty kick to cut the deficit to 4-2. O'Brien's third goal came on a free kick from 23 yards out, trimming the margin to 4-3 in the 68
th minute.
The Lady Cats got a goal in the 75
th minute to give Pitts.-Johnstown a 5-3 lead.
Sima Sinforosa recorded seven saves in goal for Lincoln (0-1), while Timi Shiock had six saves and Sierra Shaub finished with one save for the Lady Cats.
Lincoln held a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The Lady Lions return to action 4 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 2 at Washington Adventist.
