Box Score CHEYNEY, Pa. –
Cynthia Johnson (Randallstown, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) finished with a match-high 14 kills and 19 digs as the Lincoln University volleyball team rallied from two sets down to stun Cheyney University, 3-2, on Thursday night in a non-conference showdown.
The Lady Lions (2-14), who finished with 93 digs, dropped the first two sets, 25-22 and 25-20, but Lincoln dominated the next two sets, 25-7 and 25-13, to force a fifth and deciding set. The Lady Lions took advantage of attacking errors by Cheyney in the fifth set to jump out to a 10-4 lead as Lincoln took the match with a 15-10 victory.
Erica McClain (Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett HS) added a team-high 21 digs and 15 assists to go along with nine kills.
Briana McKellery (Odenton, MD/Arundel HS) chipped in with eight kills.
Sydney Cook (Portland, OR/Cleveland HS) recorded 20 digs and six assists.
Tarayja Brooks (Kennett Square, PA/Kennett HS) and
Erika Bell (Owings Mills, Md./Baltimore Polytechnic Institute HS) had 16 and 11 digs, respectively.
Lincoln returns home for three straight matches, starting Tuesday, Oct. 16 against Goldey-Beacom in a non-conference tilt at Manuel Rivero Gymnasium.
