Lions look to rebound against Bobcats

Week 5 Game Notes

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa.
– The Lincoln University football team will look to rebound after a tough loss last week to Saint Augustine's College on Saturday as the Lions play host to unbeaten West Virginia Wesleyan at Avon Grove High School.

THE MATCHUP
Lincoln comes into the game off a 34-17 loss at Saint Augustine's College last Saturday.
 
The Lions (1-3) started off slow by falling behind 28-0 before having to mount a rally in the second quarter.
Kyle Jaski (Escondido, Calif./Kenwood HS) got things going for Lincoln with a 21-yard field goal with 9:22 remaining in the quarter and Doug Cook (Dania Beach, FL/University School of Nova SE University) connected with Anthony Wilson (Philadelphia, Pa./George Washington HS) on a 4-yard touchdown with 5:57 left in the first half to cut the Falcons' lead to 28-10.
 
Tim Green (Fanwood, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood HS), who has been dominate on defense, sacked Saint Augustine's quarterback Teddy Bacote and knocked the ball loose on the play. Green picked up the football and went 33 yards for the score, cutting the deficit to 28-17, with less than five minutes remaining in the quarter.
 
The Lions had a chance before halftime to cut the margin, but couldn't turn a Falcons turnover into points.
 
Saint Augustine's proved to be too much in the end as the Falcons added a touchdown at the beginning of the fourth quarter to put the game away.
 
The Lions amassed 264 total yards of offense as Cook was 14-of-29 passing for 174 yards. Philip Jean-Juste (Miami, Fla. /North Miami Beach HS) finished with seven catches for 34 yards, while LeAndre Davis (New Castle, Del./Christiana HS) had three for 88 yards. Defensively for Lincoln, Brucelee Sterile (Miami, Fla./North Miami Beach HS) had 7.5 tackles, including nine assisted tackles and a half of a sack. Jeff Edwards recorded 6.5 tackles and one sack.
 
West Virginia Wesleyan (4-0) enters the game off a 34-10 win last Saturday at Seton Hill.
 
The Bobcats racked up 559 yards of total offense as Adam Neugebauer was 35-of-48 passing for 427 yards with a pair of touchdowns and one interception. He also had a rushing touchdown. John Meadows hauled in 11 passes for 124 yards with one score, while T.J. Benners added five receptions and one touchdown. Christian Smith finished with 101 yards on 13 carries and one score. Jonas Celian led the Bobcats defense with 16 tackles, including 2.5 sacks.

This is the first meeting between the two teams.
