Lady Lions start fast, but can't hold off Lady Panthers

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. —
The Lincoln University volleyball team started fast in all three sets, but couldn't hold on as the Lady Lions dropped a hard fought CIAA Northern Division match to Virginia Union, 3-0, on Saturday at Manuel Rivero Hall.
 
The Lady Panthers (4-11 overall, 4-4 CIAA, 2-0 CIAA Northern Division) took the match with scores of 25-15, 25-11, 25-15.
 
Cynthia Johnson (Randallstown, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) led Lincoln (0-18, 0-9, 0-3) with four kills and four digs. Erin Rucker (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights HS) had four kills, while Sharay DuBose (Salisbury, Md./Parkside HS) registered seven assists.
 
Kristin Madison finished with eight kills to pace Virginia Union. Demi Schrader had 20 assists, while Kristal Woodard recorded 13 digs.
 
Lincoln takes to the road for a 6 p.m., match on Friday, Sept. 30 against Elizabeth City State in a CIAA Northern Division contest.
