Softball sweeps VUU, in thick of postseason race

RICHMOND, Va. (April 9, 2011) — By winning three games in a row games including a convincing sweep of Virginia Union on Saturday, the Lincoln softball team has put itself in great position entering the final week of Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) competition.

The Lady Lions (5-15, 5-11 CIAA) defeated VUU,8-5 and 16-9, at Parker Field. Erin Rucker (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights HS) (4-14) picked up both decisions. The win streak is the longest in program history.

Lincoln and Virginia Union (9-17, 5-9 CIAA) are now tied for the fourth in the Northern Division with Elizabeth City State with five intra-divisional wins.
