Nsiah-Ababio scores two goals in loss to Penn Tech

Box Score
OXFORD, Pa.  — Kesha Nsiah-Ababio (Silver Spring, Md./James Hubert Blake HS) scored a pair of goals, but the Lincoln University women's soccer team couldn't rally from a three-goal, first-half deficit as the Lady Lions fell, 4-2, on Saturday afternoon to Penn Tech at Oxford High School.

The Wildcats (2-5-2) opened the scoring in the fifth minute as Kierstin Steer scored off an assist by Valeria Passalacqua on a shot from about 25 yards out to give Penn Tech a 1-0 lead.

Penn Tech extended the advantage to 2-0 in the 12th minute as Steer assisted on Shelby Straub's goal and the Wildcats pushed the lead to 3-0 in the 25th minute when Straub's shot banged off the bottom of the crossbar and into the back of the net.

Lincoln trimmed the margin to 3-1 just six minutes later as Nsiah-Ababio scored off assists by Tara O'Brien (Twickenham London, UK/St. Mark's Catholic School) and Mariah Coates (Reading, Pa./Reading Senior HS).

In the second half, the Lady Lions (1-9-1) cut the deficit to 3-2 in the 57th minute. Courtney Moss (Freeport, Bahamas/Sunland Baptist Academy) got the ball on the right side and her shot banged off the post as the ball went right to Nsiah-Ababio, who slid it into the empty net for the goal.

However, Penn Tech put the game away in the 88th minute as Passalacqua found the back of the net to give the Wildcats the 4-2 lead.

Sima Sinforosa recorded five saves for the Lady Lions, while Stephanie Koleno had four for Penn Tech.

Lincoln out-shot Penn Tech, 17-14, but the Wildcats had a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks.

The Lady Lions return to action 2 p.m., Monday, Oct. 17 in Phoenixville, Pa., against Valley Forge Christian College.
