LU men stifled by WAU

Box Score

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. — Lincoln's offense could not solve the Washington Adventist University defense Sunday afternoon at Lions Field, falling to the Shock, 6-0, in men's soccer action.

WAU (7-6) scored 45 seconds into the contest on a loose ball up front the ball ricocheted during a scramble to Jake Venolia, who deposited it past LU goalkeeper Andre Wilkinson (St. Michael's, Barbabos/William Grady) (St. Michael's, Barbados/William Grady).

Wilkinson recorded seven saves, bringing his total to 40 in 2010.

Eight of Lincoln's 10 shots came in the second half. Midway through the period, Justin Weathers (Atglen, PA/Octurara Area) (Atlgen, Pa./Octorara Area) saw a shot in transition go high for perhaps the team's best opportunity. The Lions also had three corner kicks in the final period, but the Shock defenders steered the ball away from trouble to preserve the shutout.

Erik Gutierrez recorded Washington Adventists's second, fifth and sixth goals for the  hat trick.
