Lincoln dominates 800-meters

Bishop had a great day, helping LU take second at UD.

NEWARK, Del. Five first-place finishes including a 1-2-3 showing in the 800-meter run highlighted evening at the University of Delaware Invitational Friday, allowing the Lincoln men's track and field team to take second behind Ursinus.

 

The two schools dominated the afternoon with Ursinus totaling 167 points and Lincoln 89. Wesley (35), Franklin & Marshall (28), Holy Family (24) and Goucher (10) also competed in the afternoon.

 

Matthew Coston (Queens, N.Y./Dover HS), Vincent Thomas (Columbia, PA/Columbia, PA), and William Andrew (Danbury, CT/Danbury) took the top three spots in the 800-meter run. Coston ran the two laps in 1 minute, 57.23.

 

Coston also ran the third leg of the 4x400-meter relay team that placed first. Joining him were Anthony Bishop (Philadelphia, PA/Martin Luther King), Randy Dawkins, and Alex Wright (Brooklyn, NY/John Dewey).

 

Bishops 6.09-second 60-yard dash won the 60-yard dash, barely edging teammate Rushane Scott (Allentown, PA/William Allen).

 

Aaron Hunter (Sharon Hill, PA/Academy Park) leapt 7.30 meters for first in the long jump. Completing Lincoln's domination were Jonathan Hill (Fort Lauderdale, FL/South Plantation) and Todd Mason.

Separated by less than .41 seconds, they took first and second in the 400-meter dash and were three seconds ahead of their competitors.
