Long rallies go VSU's way in win

PETERSBURG, Va. — Lincoln University vollebyall fell 13-25, 16-25, 20-25 Friday evening at Virginia State University.

Coach Schannon Gamble said after the match that Lincoln played well against Virginia State, which has now won five in a row, but that the prolonged rallies that characterized much of the night seemed to end in the favor of the Lady Trojans more often than LU.

"We played well," she said. "Our girls fought, but it wasn't enough. Virginia State is a team to watch come tournament time."

With the loss, Lincoln drops to 7-17 on the year and 3-3 in the CIAA. The group has an nice layoff before the home stretch of the season, next traveling to West Chester University of Pennsylvania Oct. 20.
