LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA. (September 14, 2008) – Theon Francis (Arima, Trinidad & Tobago/Queens Royal College) was in the right place at the right time to lift the Lincoln University of Pennsylvania men's soccer team to a dramatic 1-0 victory over Gallaudet University Sunday afternoon.(BOXSCORE)
Francis connected on a shot in the 85th minute to help Lincoln finish the week with two victories in three weeks. Francis slid a low-line drive past the Gallaudet keeper. The Lions improved to 2-4 overall.
Sophomore goalie Andre Wilkinson (St. Michael's, Barbabos/William Grady) made seven saves and earned his first shutout of the season. Wilkinson made several highlight quality saves to help keep the game scoreless and give the Lions a chance to win. Lincoln finished with 21 shots.
Francis enjoyed a strong week. He scored three goals. Also turning in solid efforts for Lincoln were Rahsaan Lisimba (Philadelphia, PA/Penn Wood), Seye Adekayne, Jerrell Hooker (Cunupia, Trinidad & Tobago/Presentation College), Adedotun Osho, Kirk Bishop (Georgetown, Guyana/Richard Ishmeal), Jarek Harris (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) and Joseph Forde (Siparia, Trinidad & Tobagho/Bensalem).
Lincoln returns to action Wednesday afternoon when it hosts Penn State-Abington starting at 4:00 p.m.
