Adekayne's goal provides Lincoln with little consolaton

WEST CHESTER, PA. (August 31, 2008) – Lincoln University of Pennsylvania sophomore forward Seye Adakanye scored late in the first half, but it was not enough as the Lions dropped an 8-1 decision to American International in the consolation game of the West Chester Invitational Sunday afternoon.

Adakanye scored off an assist from senior Kareem Morancie-Leid (Couva, Trinidad & Tobago/St. James Secondary) in the 44th minute. Lincoln sophomore goalie Andre Wilkinson (St. Michael's, Barbabos/William Grady) finished with eight saves. Despite the late first half goal, Lincoln was unable to keep pace with AIC's depth in the second half as it was outscored, 5-0. Fatigued from playing an overtime thriller the day before against West Chester, the Lions simply ran low on energy.

All three of AIC's goals in the first half were courtesy of set plays. The Yellow Jackets converted a pair of penalty kick opportunities and scored off of a corner kick to take a 3-0 lead. Overall, the Lions were outshot, 21-4. AIC received two goals each from Sean Stevenson, Keon Bobb and Thomas Denomme to improve its record to 1-1 overall.

Lincoln returns to action Saturday afternoon when it hosts Penn State-York in its home opener beginning at 3:00 p.m.
