Eighth-ranked East Stroudsburg spoils Lincoln's opener

EAST STROUDSBURG, PA. (August 28, 2008) – The Lincoln University of Pennsylvania men's soccer team began its 2008 season by falling to eighth-ranked East Stroudsburg University, 12-0, Thursday afternoon at Eiler-Martin Stadium. (BOXSCORE)

 

Andre Wilkinson (St. Michael's, Barbabos/William Grady) had 10 saves for the Lions (0-1). Theon Francis (Arima, Trinidad & Tobago/Queens Royal College) had two of Lincoln's six shots. Also recording shots for Lincoln was Adedotun Osho, Dominic Mensah, John Nixon and Seye Adakayne.

 

East Stroudsburg, the preseason favorite to win the Pennsylvania State Athletics Conference, led, 5-0 at halftime.

 

Lincoln returns to action Saturday afternoon when it meets West Chester in the first round of the West Chester Alumni Classic beginning at 3:30 p.m. In the opening game of the West Chester tournament, American International meets Mercy (NY) in the first game of the doubleheader at 1:00 p.m. West Chester is picked to finish second in the PSAC's Eastern Division behind East Stroudsburg.
