Wigfall concludes fantastic career with victory in 400-meter dash at Princeton

PRINCETON, NJ (May 3, 2008) – Lance Wigfall (East Orange, NJ/East Orange Campus) closed his career in style by winning the 400-meter dash for the fourth time this spring as the Lincoln University of Pennsylvania men's track team finished its 2008 season at the Princeton Elite Meet Saturday afternoon.(COMPLETE MEET RESULTS)

 

In addition to winning the 400-meter dash in a time of 46.98 seconds, Wigfall also helped the Lions' 4 x 400-meter relay team of Randy Dawkins (Bronx, NY/Lehman), Deidre Mcloud and Todd Mason (San Diego, CA/) to victory in a time of 3:20.93 seconds. Wigfall also finished fifth in the 200-meter dash (22.11). Wigfall won the 400-meter dashes at Delaware State, The College of New Jersey and Moravian this season.

 

While Wigfall was ending his career on a high note, freshman half-miler Vincent Thomas (Columbia, PA/Columbia) finished first in his signature event for the first time in his career. Thomas won the 800-meter dash in a strong time of 1:56.53 seconds. Thomas, who has consistently run a 1:56, has served notice that he will be a force to be reckoned with in the future.

 

Lincoln's 4 x 100-meter relay team of Davon Goldsborough (Vineland, NJ/Vineland), Andre Wilkinson (/), Rushane Scott (/) and Anthony Bishop (Philadelphia, PA/Martin Luther King) won its event in 42.86 seconds. Scott also finished third in the 100-meter dash (10.76 seconds).

 

Mccloud was second in the triple-jump with a leap of 44 feet, 51/2 inches and Tarem Cannonier was second in the 400-meter hurdles (56.17).

 

Overall, the Lincoln men enjoyed a strong outdoor season in its initial season of transitioning from Division III to Division II. A complete men's track season recap will be posted on the Lincoln athletics website one day next week. This was Lincoln's final meet of the 2008 Spring season.
