Records fall as Lincoln burns up the track at Moravian Greyhound Classic

BETHLEHEM, PA. (April 19, 2008) – Thanks to Lance Wigfall (East Orange, NJ/East Orange Campus) and the 4 x 100-meter relay team, the Lincoln University of Pennsylvania men's track team re-wrote the Moravian College Greyhound Classic record book for the second consecutive year Saturday afternoon. Wigfall won his race in a record-setting time of 46.87 seconds, breaking Bobby Young's meet record of 47.07 seconds, set in 2007. This was the second consecutive week Wigfall won the 400-meter dash. In addition to Wigfall, the 4 x 100-meter relay team of Anthony Bishop (Philadelphia, PA/Martin Luther King), Rushane Scott (/), Davon Goldsborough (Vineland, NJ/Vineland) and Andre Wilkinson (/) set a meet record in winning the race in 41.05 seconds. Bishop was a member of the Lions' record-setting 4 x 100-meter relay team at last year's Greyhound Classic.

 

Overall, the Lincoln men enjoyed several top performances at Moravian.

 

Scott was second in the 100-meter dash (10.69) and Goldsborough was fourth (10.79). Freshman Vincent Thomas (Columbia, PA/Columbia) was second in the 800-meter dash (1:56.53). Sophomore Aaron Hunter (Sharon Hill, PA/Academy Park) was third in the long jump (23 feet, 7.25 inches) and sophomore Jared Randle (Kankakee, IL/Kankakee) was fourth in the long jump (23-3.25). Freshman Dexter Gillies (/) was sixth in the long jump at 22-1.

 

Including Wigfall, Lincoln had four runners finish in the top 10 in the 400-meter dash. Sophomore Randy Dawkins (Bronx, NY/Lehman) was fourth (48.41), freshman Alex Wright (Brooklyn, NY/John Dewey) was fifth (48.71) and sophomore Todd Mason (San Diego, CA/) was eighth (49.00). The Lions' 4 x 400-meter relay team of Dawkins, Mason, freshman Diedre Mcloud (Fort Lauderdale, FL/) and Wigfall) finished second (3:17.06) behind Cornell.

 

The Lincoln men will return to action Friday and Saturday at the Penn Relays. More information and a complete Penn Relay schedule will be available Monday afternoon.
