Men's Soccer loses 5-2 against Holy Family University

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA. (October 20, 2008)   The Lincoln University men's soccer team lost a tough home game to Holy Family University 5-2 on Monday afternoon. (BOXSCORE)

Holy Family forward Matt Kocher scored the first two goals of the game in the seventh minute and the ninth minute of the match to put the Tigers up early 2-0.  After the two early goals, the Lincoln Lions settled down their defense and kept their opponents scoreless for the remainder of the first half.

With less than three minutes gone in the second half, Marc Fisher from Holy Family put the Tigers up 3-0 on a header from a corner kick by Jason Hackett who had two assists on the day.

The Lions did not want to go away that easy however as they cut into the lead in the 51st minute on a shot from the top of the 18-yard box by senior midfielder Rahsaan Lisimba (Philadelphia, PA/Penn Wood) on a fantastic pass by junior midfielder Yannick Goue.

Holy Family played tough and scored two more goals in the second half one by Tim Weglicki and the other by Ryan McNamee.  Sophomore forward Seye Adekanye (Lagos, Nigeria/) scored the final goal of the match and the second for the Lions in the 75th minute inside the 6-yard line unassisted but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit given by Holy Family.

Sophomore goalkeeper Andre Wilkinson (St. Michael's, Barbabos/William Grady) managed four saves on the match while Holy Family took 18 shots at the net minder.  Lincoln University had 13 shots at Chuck Bernard, the Holy Family goalkeeper, and he came up with three saves on the match.

The Lincoln University men's soccer team returns to the pitch as they play host to Felician College on Saturday October 25 at 2:00pm.
