Lincoln falls to Valley Forge Christian in women's soccer

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA. (October 16, 2008) – Valley Forge Christian College scored twice in the second half to defeat the Lincoln University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team, 4-2, Thursday afternoon. (BOXSCORE)

 

Lincoln (4-9-2) scored both of its goals in the opening 11 minutes of the game. After falling behind 67 seconds into the game, senior Tia Redden (New Castle, DE/St. Elizabeth's) (New Castle, DE/St. Elizabeth's) and junior Antonia Jones (Philadelphia, PA/Northeast) (Philadelphia, PA/Northeast) scored consecutive goals to give the Lady Lions a 2-1 advantage.

 

However, Valley Forge Christian did the rest of the scoring to raise its record to 6-9-1. VFCC's Keionna Jackson tied the game in the 25th minute and Mary Leschner scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 50th minute for the Patriots. The teams played to a 2-2 draw earlier this season.

 

Lincoln freshman keeper Brittany Johnson (Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro) (Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro) finished with five saves. The Lady Lions finished with 16 shots. Lincoln had two golden chances to score, but it had players hit the top of the crossbar during a pair of breakaways.

 

The Lady Lions will play their home finale Sunday afternoon against Goucher College beginning at 2:00 p.m.
