Lincoln can't derail powerful California (Pa.)

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA. (December 5, 2007) – Three Lincoln University of Pennsylvania women's basketball players reached double figures during a 97-54 loss to powerful California (Pa.) Wednesday evening at Manuel Rivero Hall. (BOXSCORE)

 

The Lions (0-5) were paced by junior Tanina Cook's 22 points. Freshman DeJuana Mosley added 13 points and senior Sharell McMillan scored 11 points.

 

However, Lincoln could not match the balance of California, which placed four players in double figures highlighted by 24 points from Brooque Williams and 21 points and 11 rebounds from Lindsay Johnson. Also reaching double-digits for the Vulcans (5-2) were Kayla Smith (19 points) and Amber Dubyak (10 points).

For the fifth time this season, Lincoln fell into a quick double-digit deficit early in the first half, 18-6 with 11:46 remaining. However, the Lions fought back behind Cook and Mosley. Cook scored 15 of Lincoln's first 17 points. Mosley drained a 3-pointer from the left corner to trim Lincoln's deficit to 21-18 with 8:57 remaining in the first half.

The Vulcans, who improved to 3-0 all-time against Lincoln, finished the half by scoring 26 of the next 34 points to open a 47-27 intermission bulge. Johnson ended the first half by making a 3-pointer as the buzzer sounded. The deficit during the second half remained double digits, marking the fifth time this season Lincoln has trailed by double digits during the entire second half. Overall, the Lions have held a lead for 13 seconds out of a possible 1,000 minutes played.
