LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – The Lincoln University (Pa.) volleyball team continues its early-season road swing Saturday, Sept. 5, when the Lions visit Goldey-Beacom College for a nonconference matchup.

Lincoln enters the match with a 0-4 record following Wednesday's road contest at Caldwell University. Despite the result,
Yvette Mercedes (Columbia, MD/) delivered her strongest offensive performance of the young season, recording a team-high eight kills with only two errors on 16 attacks for a .375 hitting percentage.
Charly Manley (Upper Marlboro, MD/Frederick Douglass HS) directed the Lincoln offense with 12 assists and added two service aces against Caldwell.
Donavyn Morris (Chester, PA/) contributed five digs and one ace, while
Alia Abdurrahman (Columbia, MD/) also recorded an ace. The Lions finished the match with 15 kills, 14 assists and four service aces.
Lincoln will look to build upon those individual performances while continuing to develop its offensive rhythm and defensive consistency. Strong serving and improved ball control will be important against a Goldey-Beacom team that has enjoyed a solid start to the season.
Goldey-Beacom enters Saturday's contest with a 4-2 record after falling to Kutztown in three sets Tuesday. The Lightning opened the season by winning four of their first five matches, including victories over Millersville, Frostburg State, Shaw and Chestnut Hill.
Kelci Gingras led Goldey-Beacom with eight kills against Kutztown, while Gabi Fullwood added seven. Juliana Malena handed out 14 assists, and Brianna Anderson paced the defense with 12 digs.
Saturday's meeting marks the second of three consecutive road matches for Lincoln. Following the contest, the Lions will travel to Philadelphia to face Jefferson at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9.
