LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – The Lincoln University (PA) football team will open Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play on Saturday, September 19, when the Lions travel to Durham, North Carolina, to face Shaw University.

Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Durham County Memorial Stadium.

Lincoln enters conference play following a competitive showing against NCAA Division I FCS opponent Mississippi Valley State in the Chicago Football Classic at Soldier Field. The Lions produced 345 yards of total offense and 22 first downs in a 31-20 setback.

Running back Lorenzo Robinson (White Plains, NY) turned in a strong all-purpose performance, rushing for 118 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries while adding two receptions for 48 yards and another score. Robinson accounted for 166 yards from scrimmage and scored both of Lincoln's second-half touchdowns.

Quarterback Jayden Triplett (Elkton, MD/Elkton HS) completed 13 passes for 151 yards and a touchdown, while Rhyel Miles-Eubanks (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville Area HS) completed three of five attempts for 62 yards and a score. Kyrie Tyson (Elkton, MD/Elkton HS) led the receiving corps with five catches for 82 yards, and Allante Stubbs (Washington, DC/Calvin Coolidge HS) added a four-yard touchdown reception.

Defensively, Brandon Robinson (Lithonia, GA/Martin Luther King, Jr. HS) led the Lions with 11 tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Charles Thompson (Chester, PA/Stem Academy) recorded nine tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss, while Brosnan Dukes (Washington, DC/Paul Laurence Dunbar HS) finished with eight tackles and an interception. Dayone Fitch added two sacks as Lincoln's defense recorded three sacks and forced three turnovers.

Through two games, Lincoln is averaging 291.5 yards of total offense, including 184.5 passing yards per contest. The Lions have also converted all four of their red-zone opportunities into touchdowns.

Scouting Shaw
Shaw enters Saturday's matchup with a 2-1 record after earning consecutive victories over Barton College and Ferrum College. The Bears defeated Barton, 23-13, before securing a 34-28 victory over Ferrum in their home opener.

The Bears are averaging 25.7 points and 384.7 yards of total offense per game. Shaw's rushing attack has produced 195.7 yards per contest and seven touchdowns through three games.

Fabian Diggs leads the Bears with 275 rushing yards and two touchdowns, averaging 7.6 yards per carry. Trey Thorpe has added 233 yards and two scores, while quarterback Alexander Marsh directs a passing attack averaging 189 yards per game.

Shaw's defense has been particularly effective on third down, holding opponents to a 20.7-percent conversion rate. The Bears have also recorded 14 sacks and forced five turnovers this season.

Players to Watch
Robinson leads Lincoln's ground game with 127 rushing yards and two touchdowns. He has also contributed 64 receiving yards and another score.

Triplett has completed 26 of 47 passes for 307 yards and a touchdown while adding 85 rushing yards and a score. Tyson leads the Lions with 13 receptions for 178 yards, averaging 13.7 yards per catch.

On defense, Thompson has collected a team-high 20 tackles, followed by Dukes with 17. Dukes has also recorded an interception, a forced fumble and two tackles for loss. Lincoln's defense has registered six sacks through its first two contests.

Keys to the Game
Lincoln will look to build on its offensive production from the Chicago Football Classic while limiting penalties and extending drives on third down. Containing Shaw's rushing attack will also be critical, as Diggs and Thorpe have combined for 508 yards through the Bears' first three games.

The Lions will also look to continue their success inside the red zone and create additional takeaways after forcing three turnovers against Mississippi Valley State.

Following Saturday's conference opener, Lincoln will return to LU Athletics Stadium to host Bluefield State University on Saturday, September 26. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
