MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Lincoln University (Pa.) volleyball team fell to Millersville University in three sets Tuesday evening inside Pucillo Gymnasium.
The Marauders secured the match by set scores of 25-14, 25-7 and 25-8. Lincoln moved to 0-6 overall, while Millersville improved to 2-5.
Inside the Numbers
- Audreynette Lydgate (Bowie, MD/Charles Herbert Flowers HS) led Lincoln with five kills.
- Yvette Mercedes (Columbia, MD/) recorded three kills, three digs and the Lions' lone service ace.
- Amira Billingsley (Glen Burnie, MD/) finished with two kills and one solo block.
- Charly Manley (Upper Marlboro, MD/Frederick Douglass HS) directed the offense with eight assists and added a solo block.
- Niana Coar (Aberdeen, MD/) contributed two digs and one solo block.
- Lincoln totaled 12 kills, 10 assists, 10 digs and three blocks.
- Millersville finished with 36 kills, 36 assists, 17 digs and 15 service aces.
How It Happened
Lincoln produced its strongest offensive performance in the opening set, recording six kills on 17 attacks for a .118 hitting percentage. The Lions continued to battle, but Millersville used an efficient offensive attack to claim the frame, 25-14.
The Marauders carried that momentum into the second set, registering 10 kills and a .389 hitting percentage in route to a 25-7 victory.
Millersville completed the sweep with a 25-8 win in the third set. The Marauders finished the match with 36 kills and a .491 hitting percentage.
Millersville's Addison Van Oosten and Nadia Sawyer led all players with six kills apiece. Julia Chunta recorded a match-high 17 assists, while Marissa Storti finished with five service aces.
