OXFORD, Pa. – September 25, 2025 – The Lincoln University women's volleyball team took the court for its second home match of the season on Thursday night at Oxford High School, falling 3-1 to Bluefield State (25-18, 25-13, 19-25, 25-20) in CIAA action.
The Lions (0-8, 0-1 CIAA) showed resilience throughout the night, highlighted by a strong third set in which they secured their first set win of the season. Lincoln posted 8 kills and 6 service aces in the frame, with Ashley Fru (Brandywine, MD) leading the way at the service line. Fru finished with 20 assists, 10 digs, 8 service aces, and 2 kills, capping a standout all-around effort.
Elise Carter (Smyrna, DE/Smyrna HS) paced the Lions offensively with 8 kills and 7 digs, while Charly Manley (Upper Marlboro, MD/Frederick Douglass HS) chipped in 6 kills, 9 digs, and a block. Kaniece Wright (Bowie, MD) added 7 kills and 4 digs, and Audreynette Lydgate (Bowie, MD/Charles Herbert Flowers HS) contributed 4 kills on an efficient .333 hitting percentage. Defensively, Donavyn Morris (Chester, PA) anchored the back row with 9 digs.
The Lions fought hard in the fourth set, trading points through nine ties and six lead changes before the Big Blue pulled away late to close the match.

Lincoln returns to action on Saturday, September 27, competing in a tri-match hosted by Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington, Del. The Lions face the host Lightning at 11 a.m. before meeting Kutztown University at 1 p.m.
