ORANGEBURG, S.C. – May 4, 2025 – The Lincoln University (Pa.) softball team capped off a historic campaign by advancing to the second day of the 2025 CIAA Championship Tournament—the deepest postseason run in program history—and marking back-to-back CIAA tournament appearances.

Game 1 – Lincoln 7, Fayetteville State 6

The Lady Lions opened the tournament with a thrilling 7-6 comeback win over Fayetteville State. Down 6-3 in the sixth inning, Lincoln rallied behind an RBI triple from Aliya Rose (Lutherville, Md./Maryvale Preperatory), a go-ahead RBI single by Jordin Cathey (Long Beach, CA/Gahr High School), and clutch at-bats from Veronica Tart (Dunn, NC) and Amari Fredrick.

Chloe Foster (Dresher, Pa./Upper Dublin) secured the win in relief, while the Lions tallied 10 total hits—three from Cathey and two each from Rose and Tart—highlighting their grit and offensive balance.

Game 2 – Winston-Salem State 10, Lincoln 6

Facing Winston-Salem State on day two, the Lions fought valiantly in a 10-6 defeat. After trailing 6-0, Lincoln surged back with a four-run third inning, followed by a two-run inside-the-park home run by Irlynn Richardson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills) in the fourth.

Richardson paced the Lions with three hits and two RBIs, while Tia Brown (Newark, N.Y./Newark), Amari Fredrick, and Ashlynn Sherman (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville High School) added key contributions at the plate in a game that showcased Lincoln's resilience and heart.

With back-to-back postseason berths and their longest run in the CIAA Tournament to date, Lincoln Softball continues to build momentum as a rising force in the conference. The future is bright for the Lady Lions.
