Lions Drop Doubleheader Against Millersville

MILLERSVILLE, PA - March 12, 2025 – The Lincoln University (Pa.) softball team fought hard but came up short in both games of their doubleheader against Millersville with a final score of 1-10 in game 1 and 5-8 in game 2.

Game 1

Millersville's offense proved too much as the Lions fell 10-1 in the opener. Tia Brown (Newark, N.Y./Newark) took the loss in the circle, allowing 10 runs on 12 hits while striking out four. Oaklyn Johnson (Baltimore, MD) provided a bright spot at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a double and driving in Lincoln's lone run. Cailyn Dove (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck Senior) also added a hit and scored the Lions' only run.

Game 2

Lincoln battled in Game 2 but ultimately fell 8-5. Jordin Cathey (Long Beach, CA/Gahr High School) and Irlynn Richardson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills) helped fuel the offense, each collecting RBIs in a late-game rally. Veronica Tart (Dunn, NC) delivered a clutch two-run single in the seventh inning to bring the Lions within striking distance, but Millersville held on for the win. Chloe Foster (Dresher, Pa./Upper Dublin) took the loss despite keeping Lincoln in the game through five innings.

The Lions will look to bounce back on Saturday, March 15, when they host Bloomsburg for a doubleheader at Lincoln University, Pa. The first game is set for 1 p.m., with Game 2 following at 3 p.m.
