Ettrick, VA – February 8, 2025 – The Lincoln University (PA) women's basketball team battled through a grueling double-overtime showdown, but ultimately fell 71-68 to Virginia State University in a heart-pounding CIAA match up.

Despite the tough loss, multiple Lions stepped up in the high-intensity contest. Senior Ciani Montgomery (Philadelphia, Pa./West Catholic Prep) put together a stellar performance, leading all scorers with 23 points, six rebounds, four steals, and two assists in 49 minutes of action. Anyssa Fields (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch) recorded a double-double, finishing with 16 points, 12 rebounds, and three assists, while Anyia Gibson (Edgewood, MD/) provided a crucial spark off the bench with 11 points and eight rebounds. Riley Holliday (Baltimore, MD/) made her presence felt in the paint, grabbing 11 rebounds to help control the boards.

The Lions will look to regroup as they return to action on Wednesday, February 12, for another CIAA match up against Elizabeth City State University. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
