Lincoln University, PA – February 13, 2025 – The Lincoln University (PA) women's basketball team fell to Elizabeth City State University with a final score of 65-55 at Manuel Rivero Hall. The Lions now hold a 9-16 overall record and 5-10 in CIAA play.
Senior Anyssa Fields (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch) led the Lions with a standout performance, scoring 20 points, grabbing 8 rebounds, and contributing 2 steals and a block. Sophomore Anyia Gibson (Edgewood, MD/) made a significant impact off the bench with 12 points and 12 rebounds, securing a double-double. Junior Kaziah Akinniyi (Baltimore, Md./Poly) added 8 points, 2 steals, and a rebound.
The Lions struggled in the first quarter, scoring only 8 points while Elizabeth City State put up 18. Lincoln battled back in the second and third quarters, even outscoring ECSU 21-12 in the third period. However, ECSU's strong fourth-quarter performance sealed the win, with the Vikings shooting 61.5% from the field and hitting five three-pointers.
The Lions will look to bounce back in their next CIAA matchup against Virginia Union University on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Bobby Morgan Arena in Philadelphia, PA.
