Staten Island, NY – February 5, 2025 – The Lincoln University (PA) women's basketball team put up a strong fight but ultimately fell short in a 63-57 loss to the College of Staten Island. The Lions now hold a 9-13 overall record and 5-6 in CIAA play.
Senior Anyssa Fields (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch) led the way for Lincoln, delivering a dominant double-double with 22 points and 13 rebounds while also tallying three steals. SophomoreAnyia Gibson (Edgewood, MD/) provided a spark off the bench, scoring 14 points and grabbing 8 rebounds. Senior Ciani Montgomery (Philadelphia, Pa./West Catholic Prep) added 8 points and 7 assists, helping facilitate the offense.
Despite a slow start that left them trailing 27-19 at halftime, the Lions showed resilience in the second half. A 17-point third quarter helped Lincoln cut into the deficit, but struggles from three-point range (1-for-15 on the night) made it difficult to complete the comeback.
Lincoln will look to bounce back in their next matchup against Virginia State University on Saturday, February 8, at 2:00 PM in Ettrick, VA.
