Lincoln University, PA – February 15, 2025 – The Lincoln University (PA) women's basketball team fell to Virginia Union University, 77-45, in CIAA action at Bobby Morgan Arena on Saturday afternoon.
The Lions (9-16, 5-9 CIAA) fought hard but struggled to find their offensive rhythm, shooting just 33.9 percent from the field and 16.7 percent from three-point range.
Senior Anyssa Fields (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch) recorded her 13th double-double of the season with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Kaziah Akinniyi (Baltimore, Md./Poly) added seven points and three assists, while Ariana Makumi (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Poly) chipped in six points off the bench.
Lincoln kept it close early, trailing 16-13 after the first quarter. However, a tough second quarter saw the Lions outscored 24-10, creating a deficit they couldn't overcome despite moments of strong defensive play.
The Lions will look to rebound when they face Bluefield State University on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. in Bobby Morgan Arena in Philadelphia, PA.
