Lincoln University, PA – February 19, 2025 – The Lincoln University (PA) Lions battled their way to a hard-fought 68-66 victory over Bluefield State University, improving to 10-16 overall and 6-9 in CIAA play.
Senior Anyssa Fields (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch) led the way with a double-double, finishing with 20 points, 13 rebounds, and four blocks. Fellow senior Ciani Montgomery (Philadelphia, Pa./West Catholic Prep) added 19 points, seven assists, and five rebounds, while junior Kaziah Akinniyi (Baltimore, Md./Poly) contributed 13 points, five rebounds, and two steals. The Lions shot 42% from the field and 50% from three, while also applying strong defensive pressure, forcing 16 turnovers and holding Bluefield State to just 37% shooting.
Lincoln entered halftime with a six-point lead, but the second half saw both teams trading baskets in a back-and-forth battle. Despite fewer shot attempts, the Lions held firm down the stretch, securing the win as the clock expired.
The Lions will look to carry their momentum into their final CIAA regular-season matchup against Bowie State University on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.
