Wilmington, DE – January 4, 2025 – The Lincoln University (PA) women's basketball team earned a thrilling 89-78 victory over Shaw University in a pivotal CIAA matchup played at Goldey-Beacom College. The Lions bounced back from their previous game with an efficient offensive performance and key contributions from multiple players.
Senior Ciani Montgomery (Philadelphia, Pa./West Catholic Prep) led the charge, scoring a game-high 27 points on 12-of-18 shooting, while dishing out 7 assists and grabbing 5 rebounds. Senior Anyssa Fields (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch) added 18 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 steals, showcasing her two-way presence. Junior Kaziah Akinniyi (Baltimore, Md./Poly) and freshman Hunter Conway (Belleville, MI/Belleville) each contributed 18 points and 10 points, respectively, helping Lincoln dominate the game from start to finish.
Lincoln's offense was firing on all cylinders, shooting 56.7% from the field and 50.0% from three-point range. The Lions also controlled the paint, scoring 44 points inside while forcing 19 turnovers that led to 21 points. A strong first half, where Lincoln outscored Shaw 51-38, set the tone for their eventual victory.
With this win, Lincoln improves to 6-8 overall and 3-2 in CIAA play. The Lions will look to build on this momentum in their next conference game against Fayetteville State University in Philadelphia, PA, on Saturday, January 6, 2025, at 5:30 p.m..
