Lions Shine with Strong Performances at Widener Invite

January 27, 2025 – The Lincoln University (PA) track and field teams showcased standout performances this past weekend at the Widener Winter Invite, held on the campus of UPenn. The Lions delivered personal bests, season bests, and top finishes across multiple events.

Women's Highlights:
Senior Aisha Carrington (Baltimore, Md./Franklin) had an exceptional meet, winning the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.85 and placing 5th in the 60m dash with 7.91. Freshman Sabianka Alexis (Brooklyn,NY/New Visions Charter HS for Advanced Math and Science) also shined, finishing 4th in the 200m with a personal-best time of 25.76, while senior Kamani Johns (Chester, Pa./Chester) dominated the 400m, taking 1st place with a blazing time of 55.05, ranking her 4th in Division II this season.

The women's 4x400m relay team of Leannah Jordan (Montclair, NJ/Montclair HS), Jazlynn Church (Wilmington, Del./The Charter School), Sabianka Alexis (Brooklyn,NY/New Visions Charter HS for Advanced Math and Science), and Kamani Johns (Chester, Pa./Chester) continued the success, securing 1st place with a season-best time of 3:57.82.

Freshman Gabrielle Lanier excelled in the triple jump, placing 6th with a mark of 11.20m (36-09.00), currently ranked 58th in Division II.

Men's Highlights:
Senior Jordan Hall (Randallstown, Md./Newtown) was a standout on the track, placing 3rd in the 60m hurdles with 8.39 and anchoring the 4x400m relay team that finished 1st overall with a time of 3:22.66. The team, featuring Malachi Williams (Washington, DC/Coolidge HS), Nasir Scott (Levittown, Pa./Harriet Tubman), and Asad Reese (Philadelphia,PA/Imhotep), showcased excellent teamwork and execution.

Freshman Nicolas Troupe (Rochester, NY/Benjamin Franklin Media Arts) performed well, setting a personal best in the 60m with 7.22 and clocking 23.17 in the 200m. Senior Jude Butumbi (Philadelphia, Pa./Northeast) excelled in the long jump, securing 2nd place with a mark of 6.93m (22-09.00).

Sophomore Asad Reese (Philadelphia,PA/Imhotep) also impressed, finishing 6th in the 400m with a time of 50.30, while senior Nasir Scott (Levittown, Pa./Harriet Tubman) posted a season-best 51.38, placing 18th.

Looking Ahead:
The Lions will continue their indoor season at the VMI Winter Relays, held on the campus of Virginia Military Institute from January 31 to February 1, 2025.
