Lincoln University, PA – January 18, 2025 – The Lincoln University women's basketball team gave a valiant effort but fell short in a tightly contested game against Bowie State University, 71-66. The Lions' late rally in the fourth quarter wasn't enough to overcome the Bulldogs in this CIAA North Division clash.
Senior Anyssa Fields (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch) led the charge for Lincoln, recording a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds, while sophomore Anyia Gibson (Edgewood, MD/) added 16 points. Freshman Hunter Conway (Belleville, MI/Belleville) made key plays on both ends, contributing 10 points and 6 rebounds. Despite a strong second-half performance, including a 28-point third quarter, the Lions couldn't close the gap as Bowie State held firm in the final minutes.
With the loss, the Lions drop to 8-9 overall and 4-3 in CIAA play.
The Lions will look to bounce back in their next game against Elizabeth City State University on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at 5:30 PM in Elizabeth City, NC.
