Philadelphia, PA – January 16, 2025 – The Lincoln University (PA) women's basketball team bounced back with a 75-66 victory over Jefferson University at the Gallagher Athletic Center. With the win, the Lions improve to 8-8 overall and 4-2 in CIAA play, building momentum ahead of their next match up.
Senior Anyssa Fields (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch) led the charge with a dominant performance, scoring 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting, including 5 three-pointers, and grabbing 14 rebounds for a double-double. Senior Ciani Montgomery (Philadelphia, Pa./West Catholic Prep) was instrumental, adding 18 points, 7 steals, and 5 assists. Junior Kaziah Akinniyi (Baltimore, Md./Poly) contributed 13 points and 5 assists, while sophomore Anyia Gibson (Edgewood, MD/) provided a strong presence off the bench with 13 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 blocks.
The Lions showcased balanced scoring and defensive intensity, forcing 20 turnovers and converting them into 22 points. Lincoln's offense came alive in the third quarter, scoring 24 points to turn a halftime deficit into a lead they never relinquished. The Lions shot 42% from the field and 40.9% from three-point range, dominating with 38 points in the paint.
Lincoln now turns its attention to the highly anticipated Battle of the North against Bowie State University on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Bobby Morgan Arena on the campus of Saint Joseph University in Philadelphia, PA.
