Winston-Salem, NC – January 13, 2025 – The Lincoln University (PA) men's basketball team stayed perfect in CIAA play with a hard-fought 67-59 victory over Winston-Salem State University at the CE Gaines Center. The Lions, now 11-6 overall and 6-0 in conference play, extended their winning streak to seven games.
Senior Reggie Hudson (Bronx, N.Y./St. Raymond's) led the charge with a game-high 20 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists, including clutch free throws down the stretch to seal the win. Senior Peter Sorber (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Catholic) was dominant in the paint, recording a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds while adding a block and an assist. Senior Bakir Cleveland (Newark, N.J./University) also contributed 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 steal, showing poise under pressure in key moments.
Lincoln struggled in the first half, shooting 25.7% from the field, but found their rhythm after halftime, shooting 50% and outscoring Winston-Salem 44-31 in the second half. Strong defense and aggressive rebounding allowed the Lions to battle back, with 38 total rebounds and 14 fast-break points playing a crucial role in the comeback.
With the win, Lincoln remains atop the CIAA standings. The Lions will return to action on Saturday, January 18, 2025, when they face Bowie State University in the highly anticipated Battle of the North at Bobby Morgan Arena on the campus of Saint Joseph University in Philadelphia, PA. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m., and tickets are limited.
