Box Score BALTIMORE, MD (February 27, 2024) - In a hard-fought CIAA Tournament matchup held at the CFG Bank Arena in Baltimore, Maryland, the Lincoln University Lady Lions faced a challenging game against Saint Augustine University, ultimately falling 64-52 in a game of resilience and determination. The game started on a rough note for Lincoln, with the team trailing 12-2 by the end of the first quarter. Their shooting struggles were evident as they managed to make only 1 out of 17 attempts from the field during this period. Ciani Montgomery (Philadelphia, Pa./West Catholic Prep) was the lone scorer for the Lady Lions, marking the only field goal for her team in the quarter. As the game progressed to halftime, Lincoln found themselves further behind, with the score at 30-15 in favor of Saint Augustine. Despite the deficit, Jaleesa Lanier (Easton, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) emerged as a beacon of hope for Lincoln, leading her team with six points, three rebounds, one assist, two steals, and three successful free throws by the end of the half. Moving into the third quarter, the Lady Lions still found themselves trailing, with the score at 42-27. Despite a valiant effort to close the gap, Lincoln University could not overcome Saint Augustine's lead, ending the game with a 64-52 defeat. The Lady Lions' shooting woes significantly affected their loss, as they finished the game 17-65 from the field, 7-28 from three-point range, and 11-15 from the free-throw line. However, their effort on the defensive end was notable, with 41 rebounds, ten assists, 13 steals, and two blocks, although the 29 turnovers were detrimental to their cause. Jaleesa Lanier (Easton, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) was deservedly named the Player of the Game for her outstanding performance. She finished with 12 points, three assists, five rebounds, and an impressive seven steals, reflecting her significant impact on both ends of the floor.
