LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA (February 10, 2024)- The Lincoln University Lions men's basketball team defeated the Trojans of Virginia State University in a crucial CIAA Northern Division matchup on Saturday afternoon. The Lions had a double-digit scoring advantage over the Trojans, with a final score of 77-66.

FIRST HALF
- Entering the contest equally matched; both teams had a 12-11 overall record has the battle of the true orange and blue commenced.
- Lincoln went on a 7-0 run to open the contest, not wasting any time taking control.
- Despite the Trojans having to call in reinforcement, collecting 19 bench points, the Lions secured 18 points in the paint in addition to 4 second chance points.
- The Lions progression through the half allowing the team to display their offensive and defensive skills.
- At halftime, the LU Lions controlled the game, 39-32.
SECOND HALF
- The second half undoubtedly belonged to LU, as they worked to maintain their double-digit lead.
- At the end of regulation, the Lions proved to be a tough opponent after taking down the Virginia State Trojans, 77-66, crucial CIAA Northern Division matchup.
LION LEADERS
- Freddie Young, Jr. (Ewing, N.J./Trenton Catholic) controlled the contest by collecting 19 points and 4 steals.
- Also scoring in double-digits were Bakir Cleveland (Newark, N.J./University) (17 points), Janaie Coates-Sinues (Newark, N.J./University) (13 points) and Reggie Hudson (Bronx, N.Y./St. Raymond's) (12 points).
- In addition to Coates-Sinues' scoring game, he teamed up with Peter Sorber (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Catholic) to lead the Lions with 8 rebounds each.
UP NEXT
The Lions will travel to Elizabeth City, NC to take on the Vikings of Elizabeth City State University on Wednesday, February 14. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at the R.L. Vaughan Center.
