Lincoln University, PA – December 5, 2024 – The Lincoln University (PA) women's basketball team dominated Cheyney University of Pennsylvania, securing a 74-47 victory in their home opener at Manuel Rivero Hall. The night was particularly special as the Lions honored their seniors during halftime of the men's game, celebrating their contributions to the program in front of an energized crowd that was thunderous all game. 

Lincoln controlled the game from start to finish, outscoring Cheyney in every quarter. Senior Anyssa Fields (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch) led the charge with a stellar performance, scoring 29 points on 13-of-26 shooting, while adding 7 rebounds, 4 steals, and a block. Senior Ciani Montgomery (Philadelphia, Pa./West Catholic Prep) chipped in with 13 points, 6 assists, and 2 rebounds, and sophomore Anyia Gibson (Edgewood, MD/) added 10 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 steals in a dominant team effort.

The Lions' defense was relentless, forcing 29 turnovers and converting them into 19 points. Lincoln also controlled the paint, scoring 44 points inside and securing 39 rebounds.

With the win, the Lions (2-6, 0-2 CIAA) aim to carry this momentum into their next game against Claflin University at Manuel Rivero Hall on December 9, 2024, at 5:30 p.m.
