Lincoln University, PA – November 19, 2024
The Lincoln University (PA) women's soccer team, led by head coach Sal Minor, has been honored with the CACC Sportsmanship Award for the 2024 season, a prestigious accolade recognizing their exemplary conduct and commitment to fair play throughout the year.
Under Coach Minor's leadership, the Lions embraced their inaugural season in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) with determination and class, despite a 3-12 overall record and an 0-11 mark in conference play. Their unwavering dedication to sportsmanship and respect for the game earned them the admiration of peers and officials across the conference.
The 2024 season featured several notable highlights for the team, including back-to-back home victories for the first time in program history. Wins against Wheeling University (3-2), Salem University (2-0), and Penn State Brandywine (5-0) showcased the team's potential and grit. These moments of triumph laid a strong foundation for growth as the Lions continue their journey in the competitive CACC.
The award not only celebrates the character of the student-athletes but also reflects the values of Lincoln University Athletics. The Lions' commitment to integrity, respect, and teamwork has set a high standard for collegiate sportsmanship.
The university community will celebrate this achievement and the success of all fall sports teams at a recognition event on December 2, 2024, at 3 p.m. in the Manuel Rivera Gymnasium. The event will honor the dedication and achievements of student-athletes from women's soccer, women's volleyball, football, and cross country.
