BOWIE, MD (January 20, 2024)- The Lincoln University women's basketball took down the Bowie State University Lady Bulldogs, 66-58, on Saturday afternoon. The Lions bounced back after trailing in the first half.

FIRST HALF
- The home court advantage seemed to play in favor of the Lady Bulldogs early in the 1st quarter.
- Despite BSU going on a 7-0 run in the opening quarter, Lincoln stayed in the game, tying the score five times.
- A last second turnover from LU gave BSU the 22-19 lead to end the 1st quarter.
- The Lions remained in lead changing range in the 2nd quarter, but did not have enough momentum to take control.
- Although behind by a few points, Lincoln stayed encouraged and followed through on each play.
- At the end of two quarters and entering the locker room, LU trailed the Lady Bulldogs, 32-30.
SECOND HALF
- The Lions returned to the court recharged after a halftime boost of energy and optimism about their fight for a win.
- Jumpstarting Lincoln's 2nd half drive was Ciani Montgomery (Philadelphia, Pa./West Catholic Prep) with a back-to-back 3 pointer and jumper.
- The team fought hard to stay in control, rounding out the 3rd quarter with 48-45 lead over BSU.
- LU packed a heavy punch in the 4th quarter, taking a double-digit lead over the home team.
- Although Bowie State attempted to rally back in the final minutes, Lincoln prevailed victorious, with a 66-58 win.
LION LEADERS
- Leading the Lions with 13 points and 3 steals was Jaleesa Lanier (Easton, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic).
- Also scoring in double digits was Ciani Montgomery (Philadelphia, Pa./West Catholic Prep) with 10 points.
- Maya Madison Walker (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin) stepping in defensively, controlling the contest with 13 rebounds.
UP NEXT
The Lions will host the Lady Vikings of Elizabeth City State University on Wednesday, January 24. Tip-off is set for 5:30 pm at Manuel Rivero Gymnasium.
