Women’s Basketball Takes a 64-51 Loss to Elizabeth City State

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA (January 24, 2024)- The Lincoln University women's basketball team took a 64-51 loss to the Lady Vikings of Elizabeth City State University on Wednesday evening. The loss moves the Lions to a 8-9 record on the season, 4-5 in the CIAA.

Series: Lincoln trails the series, 13-19, against the Lady Vikings
 
FIRST HALF
  • From the opening tip, the Lions had a slow start as the Lady Vikings took a substantial lead.
  • LU worked to close the scoring gap, but trail at the end of the first quarter, 19-9.
  • The second quarter ruled in favor of the home team, was they outscored ECSU (15-11).
  • Although the Lions went on a 6-0 run to close the scoring gap, they entered the locker room at halftime down by six points, 30-24.

SECOND HALF
  • The Lions continued to battle in hopes of controlling the game.
  • Powering through the 3rd quarter, Lincoln managed to keep the scoring gap under double digits until the final play of the quarter (53-43).
  • The ECSU Lady Vikings pulled away in the final quarter as the Lions worked to stay in the game.
  • Despite the hard-fought battle, the Lincoln Lions took a 64-51 loss.

LION LEADERS
  • Leading the Lions with 13 points was Anyssa Fields (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch).
  • Also scoring in the double-digits were D'Ayzha Atkinson (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) and Isis Triplett (Orlando, Fl./West Oaks Academy), securing 10 points each.
  • Maya Madison Walker (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin) controlled the rebounds for the contest with 11 boards for LU.
 
UP NEXT
The Lions will travel to Ettrick, VA to face the Trojans of Virginia State University on Saturday, January 27. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. at the VSU Multipurpose Center.
