Josiah Bowles Pitches Lions Past Saints For ECC Opening Series Split

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – The Lincoln University of Pennsylvania baseball program won both of its games in the four-game set by the same final score, defeating D'Youville 4-3 on Monday afternoon after the series was extended due to rain on Saturday.

What You Need to Know:

  • Game 1: Lincoln (PA) 4 | D'Youville 3

  • Records: Lincoln-PA (9-17-1, 2-2 ECC) | D'Youville (10-13, 3-5 ECC)

  • Winning Streak: Lincoln-PA (W1) | D'Youville's Last Win: April 2, 2023 (9-2)

Lincoln (PA) Top Performers:

  • Josiah Bowles (Plant City, Fla./Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy) should get Head Coach Anthony Pla's game ball after that gutsy performance, being the workhorse that the Orange and Blue needed by notching his first career nine-inning complete game and tying his career-best of five strikeouts while allowing a single earned run to improve to 2-0 on the year.

  • Lincoln registered a half-dozen base hits, all singles, as six different student-athletes logged one and all nine batters in the startling lineup reached base safely.

  • Jaden Greenidge (Richmond, Va./Monacan), DeAndre Bowens (Rock Hill, N.Y./Monticello), and Wesley Hogan (Washington, D.C./The Maret School) all drove in RBIs on their one-baggers with Hogan's being the go-ahead score in the bottom of the sixth.

  • Bryce Oliver (Williamstown, N.J./St. Augustine's Prep) walked a pair of times and ultimately came around to cross the plate both times and Alex Jones (Bear, Del./Appoquinimink) was the baserunner for the other two runs put on the scoreboard.

Notes:

  • The Lions and Saints have now played each other ten times as East Coast Conference rivals with each team securing five victories.

Next:

  • The Goldey-Beacom Lightning are the last opponent during the current five-game homestand at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
