ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – The Lincoln University of Pennsylvania softball program saw its chances of making its first ever CIAA Softball Tournament take a huge step backwards on Saturday afternoon when the Lions were swept by the Vikings in South Park, 4-3 and 10-2.

Lincoln (PA) Top Performers:
 

• The Orange and Blue were able to put 11 hits on the board over 12 innings of softball but could muster only singles.

 

• Aliya Rose (Lutherville, Md./Maryvale Preperatory) topped the team with three hits in six at-bats (.500) while stealing one of the Lions' two bases, the other coming from Maison Burton (Frederick, Md./Frederick).

 

• Tia Brown (Newark, N.Y./Newark) was the other player to have a multi-hit outing, notching a pair in game two while and striking out nine Vikings in a complete game effort inside the circle to open the twin bill.

 

• Kailee Richmond (Womelsdorf, Pa./Conrad Weiser) picked up a base knock in each matchup plus a walk and an RBI in the opener then came on in relief during the nightcap to pitch 1.2 scoreless frames with two whiffs.

 

• Irlynn Richardson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills) crossed the plate three of the five times LU scored, walking twice and singling once.

 

• Outside of Richmond, the three student-athletes to register ribbies were Sydney Davis (Harrisburg, Pa./Sci-Tech High School), MacKienzee Rasheed (Cincinnati, Ohio/Walnut Hills), and Kevyn Jones (Baltimore, Md./Paul Laurence Dunbar).

 
Notes:
 

• After starting the season at 11-12 (.478), the ladies have now dropped 14 consecutive games to fall to 11-24 (.314).

• Lincoln will remain in North Carolina on Sunday afternoon to conclude its road schedule against the Shaw Bears at 12 and 2 p.m. in Raleigh at Worthdale Park.
