Knights Slip Past Lions In Ten, 8-6

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – The Lincoln University of Pennsylvania baseball program came within four outs of knocking off a 20-win East Coast Conference rival on Friday, but could not seal the deal late in a 10-8 loss in ten innings.

Lincoln (PA) Top Performers:

  

  • The Orange and Blue teed off on QC pitching to the tune of six extra base hits out of ten total.

  • Josh Shepherd (Bowie, Md./Bowie) had a great day, hitting .750 (3-of-4) including a pair of doubles plus a walk, a run scored, and a stolen base.

  • Wesley Hogan (Washington, D.C./The Maret School) was the other Lion with multiple base knocks, clubbing a double and a single that both drove in a base runner each, crossing the plate once as well.

  • Jaden Greenidge (Richmond, Va./Monacan) extended his team lead in both home runs and RBIs, cranking a two-run homer, his sixth jack of the season that brought in his 21st and 22nd ribbies.
     

    • Greenidge has more than one-third of the squads 17 long balls (35.3%) which is three times more than his next closest teammate Josh Shepherd (Bowie, Md./Bowie) (2).

  • Jalen Greenidge (Richmond, Va./Monacan) and Alex Jones (Bear, Del./Appoquinimink) each crossed the dish twice with the latter belting a double while Josiah Bowles (Plant City, Fla./Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy) smacked a two-bagger and Darrion Williams (East Hartford, Conn./East Hartford) swiped second too.

Notes:

  • Friday's loss was just the second game of 2023 in which Lincoln played more than nine innings, winning the other game of bonus baseball by a 7-6 score at Virginia State on March 26 in the 11th.

  • LU has three more games with the Knights of Queens College with a doubleheader slated for Saturday dependent on the weather.
