LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – The Lincoln University of Pennsylvania softball program was scheduled to host its first home games of the 2023 season but Mother Nature had other ideas, raining on the Home Opening parade and moved to doubleheader to the Jackson Athletic Complex on the campus of Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington, Delaware.

Lincoln (PA) Overview:
First year Head Coach Zadaisha Waddell has her ladies trending in a direction not seen in the past 13 years as a NCAA Division II program, already sitting just two wins away from tying the school record for most wins in a single season (8) since returning to the CIAA in 2008, picking up six victories in their first 13 contests.
Coach Waddell has gotten her team to buy in on playing situation softball, leading the CIAA with five sacrifice flies, ranking top-40 nationally as well. The Orange and Blue also have the 20th-most triple in the country (6) while also leading the conference regarding slugging percentage (0.457) and batting average (0.299).
Irlynn Richardson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills) has been one of the most efficient baserunners in the NCAA so far, converting on 88.9% of her stolen base attempts, good for a slot inside the top-25. She's definitely taken on a leadership role both on-and-off the field, topping the team in average (.405), slugging percentage (.690), on-base percentage (.490), total bases (29), hits (17), runs (16), walks (6), doubles (4), and triples (4).
Kevyn Jones (Baltimore, Md./Paul Laurence Dunbar) has been the go-to woman with runners in scoring position, driving in 14 RBIs over just eight hits including a pair of sacrifice flies.
Both
Kailee Richmond (Womelsdorf, Pa./Conrad Weiser) and
Tia Brown (Newark, N.Y./Newark) have been two-way stars for LU as Richmond boasts a sparkling ERA of 1.68 while hitting .321 with eight RBIs and Brown bats .355 at the dish on top of a 2.85 ERA over 27 innings in the circle.
Scouting the Goldey-Beacom Lightning:
Since sweeping the doubleheader in mid-February, the Lightning have gone 4-2 with wins over Washington Adventist (2), Lock Haven, and Saint Rose to improve to 7-3.
GBC have done well in all three aspects of the game, hitting for a top-20 batting average (.341), turning a top-20 double play rate per game (0.50), and leading the CACC in ERA at 2.08.
Alesia Doctor has been a punchout pitcher in 2023, averaging a conference-high 8.1 striekouts per seven innings on top of sporting a top-25 strikeout-to-walk ratio of 9.50.
While Goldey-Beacom averages 6.3 runs per game, it has been inflated by its 23-run doubleheader sweep of NAIA foe WAU, without those games, it shrinks considerably to an even five runs.
Hannah Davis and Morgan Scott are the top batters, both hitting above .400 with double-digit hit totals while Davis has stolen eight bags and scored 11 times.
