Clock Strikes Midnight On Lions’ Magical Run In CIAA Championship Game

 
BALTIMORE, Md. – The Lincoln University of Pennsylvania men's basketball program went where none had gone before, going from the Opening Round all the way to the CIAA Finals, but the glass slipper fell off the Cinderella fairytale ending as Winston-Salem State prevailed, 62-57.

  • Senior Korey Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y./LaSalle Academy) will exit the court one final time as a Lincoln Lion legend, having led the program to new heights. He ended his last game with a stat line of 12 points courtesy of a 9-for-9 free throw performance, three boards, a steal and an assist in 35 minutes.
 
  • CIAA All-Tournament Team selection Reggie Hudson (Bronx, N.Y./St. Raymond's) scored 12 of his contest-best 14 points in the second half before fouling out at the 3:43 mark. He hit 66.7% of his shots (6-of-9) plus a pair of dimes.
 
  • Peter Sorber (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Catholic) kept the block party alive, knocking away four shots on top of six points and five rebounds. He concluded the four-game weekend with 11 blocks for an average of 2.75.
 
  • Bakir Cleveland (Newark, N.J./University), who was announced as along with Hudson as a member of the All-Tournament Team as well, cataloging a game-high six rebounds plus a half-dozen points.
 
  • Marshall Roberson (Charlotte, NC/West Mecklenburg) recorded his fifth multi-steal game of the 2022-23 season in a matter of only seven minutes of court time.
 
Notes:
 
  • The Lions had its second-best free throw shooting day of the season, connecting on 14-of-17 (82.4%) but it was offset on the flip side of the coin as Lincoln committed the second-most fouls on the year with 28.
 
  • LU of PA was limited to less than 60 points for the seventh time, going 1-6 (14.3%) in those contests.
