NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Lincoln University of Pennsylvania football program will witness its first ever HBCU Legacy Bowl Participant on Saturday as defensive back
Kai Gray (Newark, N.J./Saint Peters Prep) competes in the event at 4 p.m. ET inside Yulman Stadium on the campus of Tulane University in New Orleans and will be broadcast live on NFL Network.
According to the Bowl's website, "The HBCU Legacy Bowl, presented by the Black College Football Hall of Fame, is a postseason all-star game showcasing the best NFL draft-eligible football players from Historically Black Colleges and Universities. It is broadcast live on NFL Network. More than a football game, the week-long celebration of Black culture, history and a Career Fair will provide invaluable exposure and opportunity for HBCU students."
Gray, a senior from Newark, New Jersey and a Rutgers transfer, had a special season in his only campaign as a Lincoln Lion, leading the team with 82 tackles (50 solo), seven pass breakups, and four forced fumbles to go along with four tackles for loss plus a blocked kick.
The three-time CIAA Defensive Back of the Week led the nation on forced fumbles per game (0.50), was seventh for solo tackles per game (6.2), ended up 11th in total tackles per game (10.2), and landed just outside the CIAA's top-ten regarding passes defended a game (0.9).
The 6-foot-1, 215-pounder will be one of 20 student-athletes from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association to make an appearance in the Big Easy.
