ATLANTA, Ga. – The Lincoln University of Pennsylvania softball program saw quality pitching performances spoiled by a difficult defensive day as the Panthers made just enough plays to come away victorious, 7-5 and 3-1.

Lincoln (PA) Top Performers:
 

• Irlynn Richardson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills) has reached base safely in all nine contests this season and has now done so in 20 consecutive ballgames dating back to the 2022 campaign. She collected a single in game one before reaching on a fielding error in the nightcap.

 

• Cailyn Dove (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck Senior) became the first Lion to homer in the new year, taking Clark Atlanta's starter deep in the top of the third yesterday, sending a two-run shot soaring over the fence for her first career bomb in her 41st game. She also added a walk in each game plus a stolen base in the opener.

 

• Tia Brown (Newark, N.Y./Newark) was on the wrong end of a less than stellar defensive game, giving up just one earned run and four hits over a complete game of six innings while striking out eight-plus batters (8) for the second straight decision. At the plate, she walked, scored, and drove in a run on a fielder's choice.

 

• Kailee Richmond (Womelsdorf, Pa./Conrad Weiser) was one of just two ladies to notch a base hit in each outing, an RBI double in game one plus a single in the second contest in which she also tossed 5.1 innings of one-run ball via three hits.

 

• The other batter for LU of PA to notch a hit in each was Kevyn Jones (Baltimore, Md./Paul Laurence Dunbar) with an RBI single in both while scoring in game one.

 

• Sydney Davis (Harrisburg, Pa./Sci-Tech High School) was a perfect 2-for-2 in the suspended contest, scoring once with a sacrifice bunt mixed in while Aliya Rose (Lutherville, Md./Maryvale Preperatory) stole a bag and scored as well.

 
Notes:
 

• Game one of the doubleheader began at 4 p.m. Tuesday, February 21 and ended around 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoon as a heavy rain suspended the game in the top of the fourth and was resumed the next day.

 

• The Lions outhit the Panthers (11-9) on the day, but seven unearned runs due to ten Lincoln errors doomed the Orange and Blue.
